Private Label Branding (Instructions)

Here are the directions to replace our branding with your own.  We call it private label, but it is also considered white label. Keep in mind, you need to purchase a software subscription to enable this capability of the software.

Updating software directory name

Note: This section is not necessary if your site is hosted with us.

If you have not already, you should rename the "livesite" software directory on the web server to a custom name of your choice (e.g. "login").  Next, you must update the .htaccess file and index.php file (for v7.1.1+) in the web root so that it contains the custom name instead of "livesite".

Preparing your branding

Product Logo

Create a product logo for the header of the liveSite Control Panel. Your product logo image should be 150x50 pixels in size and be matted on a black background.

Company Logo

Create a company logo to the footer of the liveSite Control Panel. Your company logo should be 150x50 pixels in size and be matted on a black background.

Links

You can also add up to 5 website links to the footer of the liveSite Control Panel so your clients can contact you to purchase upgrades, support, and additional design services.

Applying your branding

Once you have prepared your logos and links, private-labeling each of your liveSites is fast and easy:

  1. Login as Administrator to the liveSite hosting account that you want to apply your branding too.

  2. Access your hosting account's Private Label Branding screen at the following URL:

    http://mysite.mydomain.com/login/private_label.php
Replace "mysite" and "mydomain.com" with your website information.

The Private Label Branding screen is only accessible by a user that has their User Role set to "Administrator".

  3. Complete the form and click "Save".

  4. View the liveSite Control Panel and verify that your logos look good, and your links work properly.
IMPORTANT: Remember, if you enable SSL for your customers website eventually, you will need to use https:// when referencing your logo or your customer will get the standard browser security warning message about "mixing secure and non-secure content" on the page.  To fix this, either upload your logo to their website as a Design File without an absolute path, or be sure to specifiy https:// for the link AND make sure your website is also SSL-enabled so it can fetch the logo file in secure mode.

What's Next?

Once you have re-branded your liveSite, you can add your own web designs, or start with our default design theme and create a website design for your client.

You will eventually need to invite your client to login into their liveSite to preview your designs, and add new users and content.  You do this by creating a User account for them with the "Manager" Role.

IMPORTANT: We recommend that the highest level of user access you allow your client to have is the "Manager" Role. This will ensure that they can access all features and management functions of the website except editing your designs, re-branding the Control Panel, or removing your Administator access.
