Upgraded Site - Private Members error - No Contact Associated

Started August 10, 2011 by designpub

After upgrading to v7.2.0, private members are stating they are having a problem logging in. When I opened a few of the users to investigate I have now seen this message in the control panel:

This User does not currently have a Contact connected to it. Connecting a Contact to this User is required to use the Membership features. A Contact will be created and connected to this User automatically when the User performs certain actions (e.g. updates his/her profile, submits a Custom Form, submits an Order, and etc.). However, if for any reason, you would like to do this now, you can.

Apparently this is something new. Can you speak to the issue of a user not being able to login now? Does this new requirement prevent them from logging in to their accounts to access private pages? How do I solve this "no contact" issue? I don't have all the contact information for each of these users, and the client isn't going to be happy about having to do all of this work to find out the information. Basically, all we have is an email and a first and last name. Will that suffice to meet the "contact" requirement?

Search Function

Started August 9, 2011 by ldunlap VIP

We have search field box on a blog form and we use it for Coach's to enter their hours worked. The search box only allows for one word searches and I need to be able to search by Coach name and date range. For example: Alex 7/1/2011 to 7/31/2011. If I pull up name only then it lists all the days coach in a running list. I print these pages off so I can issue paychecks from them.
Any solutions to this? Thanks.

Affiliate Function

Started August 9, 2011 by beachbumit

Is there any way to make the affiliate function not about $.

For example we are going to be having a drawing for a prize. The first X number of people to join the membership get one entry. They could get and additional entry for each person that sign's up via their affiliate code?

So can the system keep track of that instead of $?

PayPal free E-commerce integration compatibility

Started August 6, 2011 by blazingreality

Hi,

Does LiveSite provide options for PayPal free services Ie. Express Checkout OR Websites Payments Standard via Paypal?

The PayPal website says LiveSite is compatible with virtually All Paypal services but in reality I can only see options via the LiveSite "site settings" for the paid services Ie. Website Payments Pro & Payflow Gateway.

I need the free PayPal options as my Ecomm volume will not justify a paid services.

How can I incorporate one of the above FREE PayPal services in my shopping cart?

All suggestions are welcomed.

Regards,
BR

Linking photo to page/ linking new menu items to page

Started August 3, 2011 by SilverNote

I built some adds and linked the pictures to their respective pages by copy & pasting address from address bar while on the product detail page for that item. This seemed to work at first but now clicking photo link brings me to log-in page with"Website error". I then tried to link the pictures using "Catalog Name" field in "edit product" page. (I saw that thread) Same result. I have the same problem with a new menu I built. All links appeared to work, but now they bring me to "login page with "website error". The only working links now are the "main menu" links which link directly to pages built. I don't believe I supposed to be building "pages" for products. A clue for you: I think after I originally made the links, they functioned until I logged out and then back in. But now I can't get then to function at all. Yes, I'm a newb. Thanks loads for your time. Mike

Looking for info on wiki pages and relationship

Started August 7, 2011 by F22-Raptor

When you try to add an new wiki page (+ Wiki button) you get a form page that allows you to submit the new wiki page. The default page says:
"Now that you have logged in, as a team member you can add "Wiki Pages" to any Wiki category.
Site Administrators can add categories by creating a Page (and Page Style) and linking it to Wiki sidebar."

But... how do you do that? I tried duplicating one of the existing category pages, I created a new one - no luck. It just doesn't show up in the drop down for categories when trying to submit a new wiki page.
I looked up the help pdf, there is only one wiki reference and that one really about Form Item View.

I could not find anything that would define the category name (e.g. 1. Introduction, 3. Conclusion, etc).
I think I'm missing something but I can't put my finger on it.

Also, how does one remove the info about posting time, remove comments so the page looks more like an article (I'm using them as eLearning pages)?

Re. page relationship, I believe a wiki page gets listed under the category and the Page Sort Order will position that page based on the number you enter. Wiki pages from one category will not be available under other categories (unless there is a direct link). Are these assumption correct? Where can I find more info re. wiki pages?

One final question, is using wiki pages for eLearning a good idea or should I just create my own pages? I like the idea of being able to submit a new lesson from the wiki form.

Choose one membeship from many on Memebership page?

Started August 6, 2011 by F22-Raptor

When you go to the Membership & Renewal page, in the vanilla installation, currently you have only one option, the $599.95 for 1 year.
I created similar products for 1 month and 4 months memberships, added them to the Membership Group and they do show up on the page, the problem is that they are all selected and when you click on "Continue to Payment" you end up with all of them (1 year, 4 months, 1 month).

How do I give the user the option to pick one (or any combination if possible) before proceeding to pay for the order?

Thanks

Questionable security certificate - yellow

Started July 2, 2011 by jwadmin VIP

I am on IE9 & when editing pages, I get message on every page while trying to edit site. Says 'Only secure content is displayed'. When I clicked 'whats the risk', it says: Yellow
The authenticity of the certificate or certification authority that issued it can't be verified. This might indicate a problem with the certification authority's website.

I signed up for SSL cert with bluehost. This message comes up on absolutely every page. Do I have a problem with the site? Still trying to hook up paypal & stuggling with that so makes me wonder.

Optimizer still not working

Started August 4, 2011 by F22-Raptor

I've been trying to get liveSite to work on two computers but so far no luck at all.
The last attempt was on my WinXP (32bit) with wampserver 2.0c Prior to installing Zend Optimizer 3.3.3 (for PHP 5.2) I got the standard Optimizer is not installed.
After I installed the Optimizer, I got a message saying config.php is not installed (or configured) properly.
The other thing I tried was running Zend Server Community Edition which comes with Apache 2, PHP and Optimizer - this time around I'm still getting the standard Optimizer is not installed page.

When I check the PHP version, it shows Optimizer is installed.
Can somebody help get this thing going? I really like liveSite but I want to test it offline before I commit myself to a hosting plan.

Thanks.

How many users can I have in liveSite?

Started August 4, 2011 by F22-Raptor

On the camelback blog it says "Now all liveSite software subscriptions come with unlimited users!" does that mean if I don't get a software subscription the number of users I can have is limited? If so, what's the limit?

I will be running a training site with paid membership with 3 to 6 months renewals. I'm not sure how many active members I'll have at any given time (most likely in the hundreds) but their accounts will not be deleted which mean, eventually, I'll have thousands of accounts.

Thanks
