Creating a new site from a hosted service

Started September 26, 2011 by Lance1981

I want to create a new site for our organization using liveSite. Our current site was built with a hosted software service. I am not clear on how to build the new site (we will be using hostgator) while leaving the current site live. Since I know that liveSite doesn't work with a temporary url - do we have to get a new domain name? We wanted to keep the same one. Since it is a hosted service we can't switch to hostgator until we are ready to go live with the new site. Can someone please explain how we can do this?

ads moving too quick

Started September 26, 2011 by KCYMCA VIP

I have an ad region with 5 ads on my homepage.

Almost all of them include pictures.

The ads cycle faster than the pictures and some of the text can load.

So my question is two-part,

1 - Is there a way to slow the cycle of the ads?

2 - Is there a way to "optimize" the ads so the whole ad loads together (rather than image-by-image or word-by-word)?

Thanks,
Stephanie

Random Image From Gallery Widget/Design File?

Started September 26, 2011 by TravisEpic

I was wondering if anyone had came across a way to do this yet? I'm looking to ad a "Image of the Moment" to my site via random/most recent image added to the gallery, but to no avail I haven't found one that works with liveSite? Anyone have any pointers?

Blog Continue Reading Button/Link

Blog Posts Layout

Started September 25, 2011 by webdesyne

I have a custom page template/design for my blog.

I know that I can limit/determine how many blog posts display on a page, but how can I make these multiple blog posts display in two columns? I tried to repeat the display code in two sections (Divs), but it repeated the exact same post twice.

I want a three column layout with two columns of blog posts and then the third column is for the Blog Archive.

Is this possible? Can you point me in the right direction on how to do this?

Thank you.

Filtered Searches in the List View

Started February 20, 2011 by mholz

How do I design a designated, or filtered search in my List View?

For example, I want to design the following:

The client needs to first select a category from my drop down "Pick List", and then by "City" or "Zip code".

I want the page to look something like this:

"Please select your category ("Pick List" goes here), and then designate your "City" or "Zip code".

After they choose from the "Pick List" and enter a "City" or "Zip Code", they hit "Enter or a Search button", and the List View would then show ONLY those those selections.

Thank you for your help,

Michael

Affiliate Question

Started September 20, 2011 by waterfront VIP

I'm going to be setting up an affiliate program. As it stands do people earn continued fees even if someone purchases over multiple occasions but only clicks on your link once or uses your code the first time? Do they need to put your affiliate code in at check out or click on your banner every time for you to get paid?

Interesting Find, Please Review and Respond

Started September 21, 2011 by waterfront VIP

I have set up a few abandoned carts during the build of my site and today i decided to just click on the Retrieve button to see an old abandoned cart. What i noticed was that i was taken to a single form check out where i could make my purchase. The question i have is about the shipping option. There doesn't seem to be one so the customer wouldn't be charged shipping or even be able to choose how they want their products shipped. Am i missing something?

Thanks for your help.
Jason
