Header in the page content area.

Posted by Jkdbjj VIP on May 7, 2012

So, I have on my pages (http://www.vivisual.com/pages/window-graphics-charlotte-nc) in the page content area type that is like this:

<<<Die Cut: Simple hours and company branding, to decorative frosted panels. We can make your windows stand out! Window Graphics Charlotte NC>>>

I would like the word Die Cut to be Header 6, and the following words to be paragraph format. However, I can't seem to make it do that, and I even tried to edit the CSS, and while that worked, it forced the paragraph to drop to the next line.

Help please?

Headers (<h6> in your example) and paragraphs (<p>) are block elements in HTML, so placing one next to the other will cause them to move to the next line. You can try to add style="display: inline" to each tag to undo this.

EMERGENCY
So I started doing as you suggested, it worked fine. Then all of sudden parts of my page just disappeared, and now the entire website disappeared. I am being told to open a TT with my host BLUEHOST, but WOW can you please step in and see what is going on here?

I even did a restore from last night when all was well and now I get a white page with the following message:
Unknown column 'stylesheet_file_name' in 'field list'

The type of error message you mention would only happen when your livesite database and your livesite software don't match. That is not good. Not sure what you mean by restore, but your livesite installation has gotten messed up on your hosting account.

If they are unable to resolve it, please start a project and we can have someone here repair it for you.

On BlueHost, they offer your software, which is where I learned of you.

Anyway, they have a backup service every night and a restore function in case something goes wrong.

I started doing the header change as you suggested, and I just added style="display: inline" to my headers, and then the page I was working on, most of the data just disappeared after saving the change. I thought it was odd, so I figured I would do a simple restore since I hadn't made any changes since yesterday. Then everything went white with that message.

I haven't heard back from them yet, so I will be back in touch soon.

Ok folks, my host did a complete cpanel restore from last Friday. Still no luck, please advise how you can help, and any ideas why this happened.

When you added the "style="display: inline" to your content, it's like adding bolding to some text. It might break the look of the page itself until you remove it, but won't hurt your liveSite installation. When you did a restore, or whatever else was done to the hosting account files and/or database, it messed up your liveSite installation. We can have one of our system admin guys here attempt to repair your liveSite installation, but you'll need to start a project to get that level of help:

Hi again, I don'tind starting a project, actually I desperately need it fixed. However, if this went haywire on its own, how much should I be responsible to pay for?
I agree adding that little snippet of code would not make te site crash.

I only attempted the restore after I noticed large amounts of data just disappearing.

Btw, as a laymen here, what does it mean when a restore from a week ago does nothing, that is what confuses me. Isn't a backup full proof? What could possibly be cause a safe backup from working properly?
I'll start a project now...

Well, I understand your frustration, keep it mind that it doesn't go haywire on it's own. You may have just made it worse by trying to restore it from a backup or your hosting provider's support techs made some changes to try and fix it, and only made it worse. We have no control over what your hosting provider does to help fix it, nor what their backup/restore does. All we can do is offer to help you fix the mess.
