Rotating Ads

Posted by mholz on January 24, 2012

How do I get the Ads in my Ad region to continually rotate? In the example, which comes with the install, there are 4 ads which rotate one time and then it goes back to the first ad and stops rotating. I have the setting set to Enable Autoplay, but the ads just rotate one time, OR every time I click on the Home page (which is the page the ads are on).
Please advise. Thx.

Go back and check the Enable Autoplay within the Designer tab and the All Ad Regions...Ensure that the Autoplay is checked. If you have already done those steps and it seems as if I'm no help :-). The camelback guys are useful....for $$$ of course...

xjohnson,

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I already had the Enable Autoplay checked within the All Ad Regions region under the Design tab. All other functions work (slide, fade, transition times, etc.), but the ads will only rotate one time and then goes back to the first ad and stops.

Anybody has a fix for this? I'm also experiencing this problem. Thanks.

Please see https://www.camelback.net/pages/website-builder-forum-thread?r=URHDQDZDKO&send_to=%2Fpages%2Fwebsite-builder-forum%3F2530_query%3Dad%2Bregion#software_comment_31526

Evidently, Camelback has this problem on their update list.

However, here is the closest fix I was able to come up with, which DOES allow the ads to continuously rotate.

On your Edit Ad Region page, make the settings as follows:

Display Type: Dynamic
Transition Type: Slide (Note, this fix will not work for Fade)
Transition Duration: Set anywhere from 1 - 10 milliseconds (The closer to 10, the more it will have a "fade" effect)
Enable Autoplay: (check)
Interval: 5 seconds (or however long you want each ad to display)

Note: Setting the Transition Duration from 1 -10 sets the Slide so it's so fast that it "almost" has the same effect as a very fast Fade.

Hope this helps.

Are you sure mholz? I tried the same settings in Firefox and IE but the ads still stop after 1 rotation.

Yes, it works with Firefox, IE, Chrome, etc.

What version of liveSite are you using?

I will see if I can determine why yours might not be working.

I am using the same version, with the settings I mentioned above. I even created a new ad region with these settings and it works fine. Please make sure you have "Slide" selected for your Transition Type, or ads will not rotate. If so, perhaps Camelback can shed some light on why these settings are not working for you.

Appreciate your effort. Yes I have the slide selected. The ads rotate just fine, but only for 1 round. Then stops at the first ad when it should keep rotating.

Like many people have complained, there's probably still something not right about this version.

On your Edit Ad page, under Dynamic Ad Region Display Options, do you have anything entered in the "Label" field? If so, remove any "Labels" and see if the ads rotate. I just discovered that if any of the ads have a "Label", it prevents the ads from rotating! See if that works.

You are brilliant!! It was the Label. I hope Camelback knows this. Thanks!

Glad I could help! Evidently, it has something to do with the coding in the liveSite program.

Best regards.

Oh no. Upgraded to v8.0, and the bug has come back, with or without the labels. Now there's no workarounds! :-(

I have not seen v8.0. But if that's the case, the only thing I could suggest is to reinstall v7.3, unless there are things in v8.0, which are more important to you than the rotating ads.

I have the same issue and need fade and continuous autoplay.
