Email Response not working

Posted by jmarlowe13 VIP on July 18, 2012

On a form that I've created, I've set a response and notification page. I receive the Notification email, but not the response email. I am using one email in the page properties as the administrator, but when I fill out the form, I'm using a different email. I've tried different emails, checked the properties, checked the page, check and rechecked, but I'm not receiving that response email.

Can you please help?

This is the form:

thank you

I've just realized that a second form is also not sending the emails for the auto-response email. I am receiving the Notification email, just not the response email.

This is the second form:

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Since you are getting at least one auto-responder, then we know the web server is setup to send email. So you might try sending a Standard Page Type page as the autoresponder first, since liveSite may have trouble sending the page you selected for some reason (like it's a Custom Form Confirmation Page that can't be sent unless it matches the Custom Form Page that is being submitted).

Would it have anything to do with the fact that I am including the form onto another page using <system>Form_Name</system>

If so, is there a work around for this?

I'll try your suggestion and see what happens.

Well, I just tried changing the response email page type to "Standard," and resent a test. I received the Notification email, but not the response. I've tried different emails, and had my boss try the form too, and he didn't receive his response either.

What can be done to fix this?

Thank you

I just created a new test form, and the same thing is happening. Only the Notification email is being received.

Please help.

Ok, I just created a new test form and a new test Response and Notification pages.

I get the Notification email, but again, not the Response email.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Yes, I've checked my Junk mail folder. I receive all junk mail, and then I manually deal with it for this very reason.

As I mentioned, my boss also tried the form and didn't get his response email either.

Can you try the form to see if you get a response email?

For someone to login and take a look at your setup, you will need to start a project:

Here is the test email that is NOT using the <system>Form_Name</system> scenario, I mentioned that I was using with the other 3 forms, and this one is also not sending the Response email.

Thank you for your help.

We are trying to contact the host to make sure this isn't a server issue, and if we find no problems from the logs, we will start a ticket for your help.

What will you need? I presume a user account with Admin role and FTP access?

Will you also need database info?

Thank you,
elizabeth

Can you tell me if the email response emails from a form submission, which are using the user input Email form field, sends the response email differently than the Notification email, since the Notification email is set in the "page properties?"

In other words, LiveSite has two different locations where it grabs the email to use for sending these emails, Notifications is grabbed from "page properties" and the Response email comes from the form field "Email."

Could there be anything you know of that would prevent the application from getting that email address from the form?

We are having a problem getting access to this client's hosting company.

Thank you,
elizabeth

They are both set in the page's properties and sent the same way.

I have discovered the problem. When you select that the form is "connected" to a user group, for the Response emails to work, then you must go back into the form and associate the form fields with each contact group item, such as First Name on the form with First Name in the user group.

Very obscure, but now it works.

Thanks.
