EVERYTHING changes when I change any page! HELP!

Posted by pdennen on April 25, 2012

I have created a page style for EACH page that I use. I start form the designer tab and CREAT a page style. I name that page and use that style for only ONE page in my iste. However- ANY change that i make on that page to the dimensions of any object, frames etc are reflected on ALL of my pages. I have wated countless hours trying to go back to fix everything only to find that my FIX created a problem on another page! HELP!!!

Are you using the same regions on each page? If you use the same common, dynamic, etc. regions on different page styles, any change you make on one will change for all page styles/pages using that region, except a page region.

WFor example Page Region #1, #2 and #3 are all on my first page. They have Black Backgrounds. If I create a second page, using a new page design, and I use a page refi\gion 1 and 2 it changes the first. So instead I make page red\gion 1,2,3, then put in 4 and 5. I put my content in 4 and 5... HOWEVER there are two problems with theat... the first is I have put a border around page region 1 and 2.... plus a white background. On the new page, even though I dont put any content in page region 1,2 and 3 there are a couple of random bozes with white backgrounds.

The second problem is I have almost 20 pages.... so now i am up to creating 17 Page areas that I am not putting any contnet in.... they have to go on top becasue the system counts form the top. That means the further I go, the larger the balnk area ont eh top of my page is. It looks TERRIBLE!

Wow, that is crazy. I think if the background changes are in the theme design it will affect all of the page regions

I ran into the same issue and found a work around that doesn't create unwanted blank areas. Don't make your extra sections in the Page Style Page Regions, just leave them blank. In v. 8 each region that you add is assigned a little code (.r1c1, .r2c1 etc.). It appears that the formatting for each of those sections is the same across all Page Styles so if you add blank sections to a Page Style ti doesn't through off the spacing on the page but advances the numbering so that you get to a section that doesn't share formatting with a section on another Page Style. It's a little hard to explain but seems to be working. Bottom line all regions with the same .r1c1 code will share the same formatting so you have to have different r-codes assigned to regions that you want to have different formatting from each other. Hope that helps.
