liveSite v8: Mobile Web, High Performance, and many more features! |
Camelback Web Architects is proud to announce liveSite v8 including Mobile Web, High Performance, Google Fonts, PicMonkey and more! The page display engine has been completely redesigned from the ground up for high performance and now includes powerful theming features that allow you to serve a mobile version of your website to your mobile visitors!
Mobile Web New!
Now you can design and build a mobile version of your website in a matter of minutes using your existing design, or you can create a new design just for your mobile visitors. We have optimized all page layouts, menus, fields, and even buttons for mobile devices, including HTML5 input fields. You can literally serve the same web page but with a different layout, content, and design to your mobile visitors, creating the best experience for all visitors!
High Performance New!
Through the use of the newest browser techniques, caching, CDNs, and parallel requests, liveSite page loading has been optimized for speed. In addition, Form List Views with many fields or filters, and databases with many submitted forms have been massively optimized. For example, a page that might have taken 11 seconds to load can now be loaded in under 3 seconds. Pages that have already been visited may appear instantly. This is great news for low-fi connections and mobile visitors on your site!
PicMonkey New!
As Google closes Picnik, we have added support for editing your uploaded photos directly from liveSite over the internet with PicMonkey.com. If you are familiar with editing your images in Picnik, it is very similar. If you find their editing tool useful, please support them because they have jumped through hoops to ensure that PicMonkey works flawlessly with liveSite. They promise even more great features soon!
Google Web Fonts New!
Now it's super easy to explore the power of typography in your web designs. The Theme Designer now includes 150 of the most popular Google Fonts built-in. Use them for your text, headings, and even your buttons!
Enhanced Social Networking
Google +1 and LinkedIn social sites have been added to liveSite's basic social networking buttons, but we have also integrated AddThis.com API into liveSite to increase performance, and allow you to easily define your own custom mix of social networking and page functions that are right for your audience. Now you can pick and choose from dozens of social networking site buttons, place them where you want them, and all are fully integrated with liveSite page functions including RSS feed, print, bookmark, and e-mail a friend.
Enhanced Site Template
The default site installed with liveSite has been improved. Not only does it have all the integrated apps already built and ready to launch, but includes a fully functional mobile version too!
Enhanced Theme & Style Designer
Tired of creating gradient images for your button backgrounds? Well, no more! The Theme Designer now creates imageless background gradients of any size automatically, so you don't have to create graphics each time you change a button's size or color. Also, to make sure your designs are rock-solid across all browsers and mobile devices, the new "PreStyling" area has been added and includes the popular normalize.css to reset all browsers to the same settings. And to make it easier to update your Themes, the Theme Designer now highlights the area of the preview page that you are customizing!
The Style Designer now includes the CSS classes that are used by the Theme Designer to style your content areas. You can also add cells now in any direction, making it much faster to edit a web page layout.
Enhanced RSS Feeds
Embedded RSS link tags now appear in your HTML so your site visitors, search engines, and other systems can find and subscribe to your RSS feeds more easily. Some browsers will now show special icons to identify that there are RSS feeds available on your pages. Google Reader support is also now automatically enabled.
Enhanced System Regions
Now you can add header and footer content around your System Regions so you don't have to surround your System Regions with Page Regions to add heading and footer text and graphics.
Product Export Feature New!
Now you can export your products as well as import them. Exporting and then re-importing is important if you are managing inventory levels outside of liveSite and need to update them. The Product import feature supports all properties now.
Shipment Tracking Features New!
Allow your customers to track shipments from within liveSite. Tracking codes from major shipping carriers like UPS, FEDEX, and USPS are automatically detected and linked to their package tracking websites. Supports split order tracking, or when multiple shipments are required for a single order.
Plain-Text Emails New!
E-mail Campaigns and most other HTML e-mail auto responders have been enhanced to support sending text-only emails instead of HTML emails. This is important for sending email campaigns to mobile phones (e.g. text messaging), or for low-fi customers or those that typically have trouble displaying HTML-formatted emails.
Favicons
liveSite will now automatically look for a favicon.ico file in your Design Files area and will display it within any browser that visits your site.
CAPTCHA
We have enhanced the simple CAPTCHA feature to trap 100% of all known spam attacks so you can enable anonymous comments on your pages with confidence.
Custom Formats
For Content Editors, we have added new Custom Formats for styling your content within the Rich-text Editor. Now you can access your Theme's primary and secondary colors and backgrounds, and also style tables, paragraphs, and hide content from mobile devices.
CSS Classes New!
For the Web Designers that want more fine control over their page layouts and designs, we have exposed dozens of new CSS classes that can be used to style all page types, data rows, search boxes, theme colors, and even buttons.
Enhanced Styling for Menu Regions
We have added "Backgrounds, Borders and Spacing" fold for Menu Regions in the Theme Designer to allow for styling the menu itself instead of it's surrounding area. Top level menu items can now be correctly positioned (left, right, or centered) and stay highlighted when submenu items are hovered over. Submenu items can now be styled independent of the Top-level menu styling.
Time & Date Displays New!
Now date and time fields can be fully customized when displayed in views and other areas where your field data can appear (e.g. e-mail auto responders). This feature allows the use of any PHP date format or relative times (e.g. 2 minutes ago) when displaying your data fields.
My Account Page Improvements
We added additional information to the My Account page so your customers can find their username, view their rewards points, and find a link to their own start page.
Free-Form Quantities
Your customers can now enter any quantity of products on the Catalog Detail Page. Previously, a common selection of 1-10 was required at this stage of the catalog order process. This change is helpful if you commonly sell more than a quantity of 10 of any product or service you offer.
Order Receipt Features
The Order Receipt auto responders have been updated to include:
PayPal Express Checkout Enhancements
To increase Order conversions, liveSite now sends additional order detail (product description, price, order discount) to PayPal Express Checkout so that the Customer can see this additional detail when paying at PayPal's website. Also, a customer is no longer required to sign up for a PayPal account in order to pay by credit/debit card.
Sage Payment Gateway New!
Added support for Sage's popular payment gateway.
Member IDs
The default Member ID created upon purchase is now a unique ID instead of the order number so that the value is more secret.
Offers
Added feature to allow Offers that have the same code to either all be applied or only the best offer be applied.
Control Panel Improvements
Design Files can now be seen by Designers from the Folders tab and the Files tab and all Files can be moved easily from the Files tab to the Design Files area and vice-versa! Other Control Panel enhancements too numerous to mention have also been included!
